Annual Junior presentation 2016 – Emyr James

The annual presentation of prizes and cups for the year was recently held for the junior section of the club with awards presented by club captain Lyndsay Morgan.

Concluding a very successful golfing year at the club, the main prize winners were as follows:

Aggregate Cup and most improved player: Marni Copeland

Nett Champion: Bleddyn Morgan

Scratch Champion: Dafydd Morgan.

Taking over as Junior Captain for the coming year is Benjamin James.

Seniors – Geoff Snape

Seniors season has now finished and a few of the Trophies have been presented to the Winners.

The monthly stableford competition based on the 3 best scores from 4 was won by Geoff Snape.

The Captains last away day was at Aberdovey and once again this fine course presented a stern test. A warm sunny day with a typical links wind made scoring difficult but Keith Phillips topped the list with 32 points followed by Ian Tushingham 2 points behind. The aggregate winner of the Tony Simpkin Trophy based on scores from Langland Bay, Clyne & Aberdovey was Keith Phillips.

The following Thursday the Seniors held their end of season competition and dinner. For the first time we played for the John Foley Trophy – we lost John suddenly 12 months ago and Andy Rodda presented a trophy in his memory. The winner was the Seniors “Star” performer of the year Keith Phillips with 41 points followed by Tony Simpkin with 39, Ned Kelly got the same number of points but lost out on the back nine.

Following the dinner the Seniors were duly entertained by Golf Pro Robert Ryder. That evening the new Captain Trevor Boyce took over the mantle from Geoff Snape. The outgoing Captain would like to thank all Seniors for the excellent support during his 12 months stewardship, it has been an enjoyable year with excellent numbers playing not only at matches but supporting the Tuesday & Thursday swindles. May I wish Trevor an enjoyable and successful Captaincy.
