Course News

The course is in really great condition and your help is needed to keep it that way.  You will find divot bags out on various holes, please ONLY use to fill divots, not rabbit holes.  The mix used is quite expensive, the rabbit holes will be filled by the greenstaff.

Seniors – Geoff Snape

July was a quieter month, one can say ” back to normal”! We played 3 matches away at Ashburnham and Glyn Abbey with a return match home to Derllys Court. Unfortunately in all 3 games, though close, we finished “runners up” on each occasion. The Tuesday & Thursday support has been excellent again and thanks to everyone for their support and Nigel for his organisation.

We held the Ian Thomas Memorial Trophy which was won by Keith Phillips with 43 points followed by Nigel Clarke with 41. The Seniors Monthly Stableford was held on the hottest day of the year, our Captain won with 38 points followed by Glyn Parry on 34.

Captain’s Away Day to Clyne GC is on 22nd August, we could do with a few more Seniors supporting the trip, which is a very good value day’s golf, the notice is still on the Seniors Board.

Matches come weekly now, starting away to Haverfordwest on 4th, followed by Glyn Abbey home on 11th, Carmarthen away on 18th & Tenby home on 25th, it would be good to get as many Seniors signing up to play in these games.  August Monthly Stableford is likely to be on Tuesday 16th.

Slow play

More to come in a mid-month special but please try to keep the pace of play reasonable.  Simple things like putting your trolley/bag on the side of the green nearest the next hole and marking score cards away from the green can speed things up significantly.  And don’t waste 5 minutes before calling the group behind through, call them through and look for the ball whilst they are playing on.
